EXCLUSIVE.
Originally designed as a portiere—a decorative hanging for a door or doorway—this piece showcases an intricate array of William Morris’s beloved floral and animal motifs, imbuing the design with vibrant life and movement. Inspired deeply by his garden, where he lovingly tended native plants, Morris developed a profound appreciation for nature. He sought to bring the spirit of the natural world into the home through his art—not by creating literal imitations, but by offering stylized interpretations of plants and animals that captured their essence.
John Henry Dearle, a gifted textile and stained-glass designer, was both apprentice and successor to Morris. After Morris’s passing in 1896, Dearle assumed leadership of Morris & Co., continuing the legacy with dedication and artistic excellence.
In the RENNIE & ROSE tradition, we have lovingly adapted this quintessential Morris design for our woven home décor collections. With Morris’s ethos at heart, we've reimagined the design for today’s homes—bringing timeless elegance and nature-inspired artistry into contemporary spaces. The quality and intricate detail of this weaving are exceptional. Each glance reveals something new—a hidden leaf, a delicate bloom, or a graceful creature—making it a piece you’ll rediscover time and again.
